Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. Provide the care needed for adult and geriatric patient groups. Meet residents' activities of daily living (ADLs) needs as outlined in the plan of care. Maintain a safe and comfortable environment, including hygiene and grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care. Complete documentation per protocol. Ensure residents' environment and safety are maintained as outlined in the plan of care. Respond promptly to call lights and alarms. Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the unit, behavior and fall prevention, and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment. Meet residents' nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care, including meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, and feeding. Honor residents' preferences and choices. Address residents' rehabilitative needs as outlined in the plan of care, including range of motion, ambulation, transfers, and use of assistive devices. Report residents' rights, refusals, and concerns to Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely manner. Identify and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial status promptly. Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
