Join the Division of State Care Facilities, a dedicated team within the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare committed to supporting and empowering clients through compassionate, skilled services and dedicated care. Southwest Idaho Treatment Center (SWITC) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential treatment setting. The RN is responsible for assessing health needs, implementing nursing care plans, administering medications, and coordinating medical care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. This position focuses on clinical oversight, health monitoring, and medical decision-making and does not routinely perform ADLs, which are provided by Direct Care Staff, except as required in emergency or safety situations. Work is performed in a residential treatment center environment. May require lifting, repositioning, or assisting clients as needed. Exposure to medical equipment, communicable diseases and behavior challenges are expected. Shift work may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and facility protocols. Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans based on resident needs interdisciplinary team input. Monitor and document changes in client conditions and communicate concerns to physicians, supervisors, and care teams. Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions, including first aid and emergency response procedures. Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in medical records and electronic health systems. Provide guidance, training, and clinical support to Direct Care Staff as assigned. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and facility policies. Promote client dignity, safety, and rights while maintaining a therapeutic and supportive environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Experience working with clients with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or in a residential or institutional healthcare setting. Typically gained by one (1) or more years of nursing experience in a residential treatment facility, intermediate care facility (ICF), long-term care, or similar healthcare setting. Knowledge of medication management, infection control practices, and nursing standards in institutional or residential healthcare environments. Typically gained by professional nursing experience in a regulated healthcare setting. Experience collaborating within an interdisciplinary team. Typically gained by prior nursing roles requiring coordination with physicians, behavioral health professionals, therapists, and direct care staff. Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills. Typically gained by progressive responsibility in professional nursing practice involving documentation, care planning, and clinical decision-making.
