This position reports to the Financial Services Program Manager. The Financial Services Program provides accounting related services to the clients of 501 Commons.Summary This position provides direct bookkeeping services to our clients. Associate handles bookkeeping for clients on an ongoing basis, from recording payroll to reconciling bank statements to creating financial statements, as well as other accounting tasks. The associate manages several clients, providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end full-charge bookkeeping support. For the right candidate, this position will also assist 501 Common's internal finance team with AR/AP functions. Responsibilities Handles the accounting cycle and provides full charge bookkeeping support for assigned clients Ensures payroll, AP/AR functions, reconciliations, and financial statements are completed in an accurate and timely manner Understands the bookkeeping cycle and completes work in a timely manner related to that cycle Develops and maintains processes and documentation for assigned clients Consults and advises nonprofit organizations about best practices for financial operations Ensures compliance and reporting requirements are met Shares knowledge and provides support to clients Performs other duties as assigned What We Offer Flexibility: Ability to set your own schedule within a M-F, 7 am to 6 pm timeframe. Requirements Competencies and QualificationsRequired Minimum two years of accounting experience Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience Functional proficiency of QuickBooks (desktop and online) and MS Excel Working knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, compliance requirements, and best practices Effective time management skills, as demonstrated by being self-directed in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines Ability to communicate accounting concepts in ways that are easily understood by all audiences Ability to be adaptable and flexible in order to meet the needs of diverse organizations Committed to 501 Commons' goals of equity and inclusion to build trusting relationships with clients and staff of diverse backgrounds Desired CPA, EA or other certifications desirable but not required Working knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles including fund accounting, compliance requirements, and best practices Physical Requirements The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. This position requires the ability to use computers including a ten-key for extended periods of time. This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time. Salary Description Salary: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour DOE
