This position provides 1:1 support for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs within both inclusion and self-contained classroom settings. The role works closely with teachers, therapists, and behavior specialists to support student learning and independence. This is an excellent opportunity for Behavior Technicians, Paraprofessionals, RBTs, or candidates with ASL experience who are passionate about supporting students with special needs. Position DetailsPosition: Dedicated Aide / Behavior Technician / Paraprofessional Location: Washington, DC Schedule: Full Time | Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Weekly Hours: ~40 Hours Start Date: ASAP School Year: Through June 2026 with Opportunity to Extend Pay Rate: $20-$30 per hour (based on experience and ASL proficiency) Classroom Environment • PK-5 Special Education Program • Inclusion and Self-Contained Classrooms • Students with autism, developmental delays, and behavioral challenges • Instruction supported by BCBA supervision and evidence-based practicesResponsibilities • Provide 1:1 academic and behavioral support for assigned student(s) • Support implementation of IEP goals and behavior plans • Assist with adaptive daily living skills (ADLS) including classroom participation and routines • Reinforce instruction provided by the teacher through structured activities • Assist students with communication and engagement using ASL • Collect and record data on student progress • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to meet student needs • Help maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment Qualifications • ASL proficiency required (certification preferred) • High School Diploma or equivalent required • Experience supporting students with special needs strongly preferred • Experience as a Behavior Technician, Paraprofessional, RBT, or classroom aide is a plus • ABA or behavioral support experience preferred but not required • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Why This Role Is Unique • Work in a highly supportive special education environment • Collaborative team with BCBA supervision and training • Opportunity to make a direct impact on student development and communication • Great role for professionals pursuing careers in Special Education, ABA, Speech, or Behavioral Health If you are passionate about supporting students and creating inclusive learning environments, we would love to connect with you.
