Description The Powder Packaging Lead serves as a key support to the Shift Supervisor in overseeing daily operations related to safety, quality, and production efficiency within the department. In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, the Dryer Equipment Lead assumes full supervisory responsibilities to ensure smooth and compliant operations. Leadership & Oversight Support the Shift Supervisor in managing daily departmental operations. Assume all supervisory duties in the absence of the Shift Supervisor. Provide oversight of safety, quality, and production performance throughout the shift. Maintain a professional, respectful, and team-oriented work environment. Enforce all Grassland Safety Policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), work instructions, and standard operating procedures. Production & Operational Management Review the Daily Production Plan and assist in executing and adjusting the plan as needed throughout the shift. Establish and communicate machine throughput goals to maintain operational efficiency. Operate machinery and equipment during periods of high production demand. Provide coverage and absence relief for production staff as necessary. Verify integrity and accuracy of finished products, including in-process checks and load-out verification. Safety & Quality Assurance Conduct daily safety observations and monitor quality performance. Assign, track, and ensure resolution of quality and safety issues, including: IFSA findings USDA corrections Internal audit corrections Ensure compliance with all food safety and regulatory standards. Monitor adherence to GMPs and sanitation standards. Training & Employee Development Train and develop new and current employees. Present on a designated training topic at least once per month. Actively participate in employee meetings and provide constructive input. Promote continuous improvement through coaching and mentoring. Position RequirementsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic computer knowledge. (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel) Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to understand the goals and objectives set by supervision. Ability to operate or have a strong understanding of a majority of the equipment in the Fluid Plant. Professional and effective communication and organizational skills. Good understanding of the policies, processes and products manufactured throughout the department. Demonstrate the Qualified Individuals responsibilities for Preventative Controls. Education/Experience: Experience with confined space operations, pasteurization, and HACCP, preferred. Has led by example in all areas of safety, quality, and efficiency as an operator. Minimum of 4 years dairy manufacturing experience, preferred. Minimum of 2 years in the Fluid Plant, or equivalent experience, preferred. 2-4 years secondary schooling or equivalent combination of education & work experience.
