Systems Engineering Internship - Digital Twin

Auria is looking to hire a Systems Engineer intern. This role is ONSITE in Colorado Springs, CO. Summer Internship: June 1, 2026 - August 28, 2026, end date flexible based on academic obligations. We are seeking a Systems Engineering Intern to support the architecture and integration of a digital twin simulation environment with an operational command-and-control platform. The intern will help define system interfaces, develop operational scenarios, and support the integration of simulated sensor data into a mission command environment that demonstrates human-AI teaming for operational decision making. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO: Support the development of the system architecture for a digital twin simulation of a space-based sensor Define system interfaces between the simulation environment and an operational command-and-control platform Assist in developing data schemas and interface control documentation Develop operational scenarios that simulate missile detection and response workflows Support integration testing between the digital twin and the command-and-control environment Help evaluate system performance and document lessons learned Assist with the development of system diagrams, architecture documentation, and technical briefings WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES: Mission-Driven Professional: Collaborative contributor motivated by the opportunity to develop cutting-edge solutions that protect and serve both the nation and the world. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field Understanding of systems engineering concepts and system lifecycle processes Ability to analyze complex systems and describe system interactions Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS: Exposure to model-based systems engineering (MBSE) concepts Familiarity with system architecture diagrams or SysML Interest in space systems, missile warning architectures, or command-and-control systems Experience documenting system interfaces or technical architectures Familiarity with data modeling or system integration concepts PAY TRANSPARENCY: The wage offered will be based on the selected candidate's college year. $22/hr. - $33/hr.
