About City Year City Year is a dedicated AmeriCorps program committed to ensuring the academic success of students across schools. Our AmeriCorps members provide vital support to students, classrooms, and schools to help students develop the essential skills and mindset necessary for thriving in their communities. Role Overview As a Student Success Coach and Mentor, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students from elementary to high school. Your mission will be to empower students to excel academically, improve attendance, and cultivate positive behaviors in the school environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver personalized academic coaching and mentoring to students through one-on-one and small group interactions. Enhance students' literacy and math skills using engaging, tailored learning activities. Motivate active student participation, encourage assignment completion, and promote positive peer interactions. Utilize effective behavior management strategies to create a supportive learning atmosphere. Work closely with teachers and school staff to track, analyze, and review student progress through data analysis. Collaborate with educators to foster a safe and engaging classroom environment. Support initiatives that promote student and family involvement within the school community. Facilitate after-school programs that include academic enrichment, homework help, and student-led clubs. Design and co-lead events that celebrate and recognize students' achievements across various domains. Aged 17-25 by July 1, 2025. Must hold at least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent; some college experience is preferred. Must have not served more than three terms in an AmeriCorps program. Completion of a background check is required. Available to begin in July/August 2025 (the exact date is location-dependent).
