About the Role: As a Nursing Education Specialist, you will work closely with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs that enhance staff development and clinical competencies. Your contributions will be vital in shaping the onboarding processes and professional growth of nurses in high-acuity medical-surgical settings. Key Qualifications: Minimum of three years of recent acute care clinical nursing experience. Experience as a preceptor is mandatory. A year of teaching experience is preferred; background in nursing professional development or specialty areas is a plus. BSN is required; active enrollment in a Master’s program, with completion within two years, is preferred. Recent acute care experience equips Nurse Educators to effectively support clinical development, ensure staff competency, and collaborate with unit leaders to improve patient outcomes. Licensure and Certification: Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut (required prior to hire). NPD or Clinical Specialty Certification must be obtained within two years of hire/transfer. BLS certification is required. Essential Skills: Ability to develop, deliver, and assess educational programs. Solid understanding of adult learning principles. Keen knowledge of high reliability principles and LEAN process improvement. Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. Aptitude for managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
