Job Summary The Assistant Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for supervising patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. You will ensure high-quality, patient-centered care aligned with the hospital's strategic plan and objectives. This role involves collaborating with leadership while overseeing daily operations, including off-shift and weekend management of nursing and non-licensed staff. You will manage resources, quality improvement initiatives, payroll, and colleague schedules, ensuring efficient clinical operations. The Assistant Nurse Manager also contributes to a safe and therapeutic unit environment by stepping in as a staff RN when needed. You will play a key role in fostering professional development and ensuring standards of excellence while participating in and possibly leading Performance Improvement efforts in your department. Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Existing employees as of March 1, 2024, must obtain BSN within 3 years. Experience: 2 years of acute care nursing experience required; 5 years of Critical Care experience preferred; management roles are a plus. 3-5 years of leadership experience required. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse in the State of CT; Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA). Other specialty certifications may be required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of nursing and healthcare administration principles. Ability to make sound clinical assessments and implement safe care within a collaborative health team structure. Understanding of federal, state, and regulatory requirements. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Proven leadership skills with a commitment to lifelong learning and continuous improvement in patient care. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work both independently and collaboratively. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with problem-solving skills for emergency situations. Promotes an inclusive workplace valuing diversity and individual differences.
