Job Description: Position Details: Average effective hourly rate of $38/hour after training. Enjoy a rotating 4-day work week within Monday to Friday, with an occasional 5th day as needed. Position Purpose: The role of food and food service delivery drivers is vital to the country’s food supply chain. As a delivery driver, you will ensure that customers receive their products on time and in excellent condition while representing our company and building lasting relationships with our clients. The CDL-A Driver is tasked with operating a tractor trailer or straight truck for local, intrastate, and interstate deliveries. You will be responsible for unloading food and food-related products at customer locations safely and efficiently, while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Primary Responsibilities: Interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to provide accurate and timely information. Collaborate effectively with team members and perform duties to serve the company best. Conduct pre and post-trip safety checks as mandated by DOT regulations and ensure the vehicle meets company safety standards. Report safety issues and necessary repairs promptly. Follow all DOT regulations and company policies regarding safe driving. Report safety hazards immediately, and inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight. Perform accurate item counts and verify customer invoices for loaded products. Ensure accurate completion of all required paperwork associated with freight, ensuring legibility. Navigate to the loading dock to connect with preloaded trailers as required. Deliver customer orders according to pre-established routing schedules. Unload products from the trailer, transporting them to designated storage areas at the customer’s location. Carry out damage control checks on items and appropriately address any discrepancies in line with company policy. Verify receipt of items with customers and secure necessary signatures. Collect payments (cash or checks) when required while managing customer returns safely. Ensure all equipment and products are securely locked and secured at all times. Handle damaged goods and returns following correct procedures and complete required paperwork. Maintain daily records of hours of service in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements. Carry out general housekeeping duties to keep vehicles and loading areas clean and organized. At the end of each shift, secure all equipment and complete any outstanding paperwork. Perform additional duties as assigned to support company operations. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent 12 months of commercial driving experience. Valid CDL-A license. Must be at least 21 years of age. Meet all state licensing and certification requirements (where applicable). Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years. Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check. Pass a road test. Hold a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure one. Ability to handle and utilize lifting equipment to move product cases/freight, which can weigh between 10-90 pounds, depending on location.
