Join Our Team as a Mortgage Field Services Inspector! FAR Inspections is actively seeking dedicated individuals to carry out residential occupancy verifications for mortgage lenders. This independent contractor position offers a chance to earn a steady income, either as a full-time commitment or as supplementary income, all while enjoying the flexibility of setting your own schedule. What Does an Occupancy Verification Entail? Mortgage lenders need regular updates on the status of their properties, and that’s where you come in. The primary objectives for these inspections include: Verifying the occupancy status of the property. Reporting on the general condition of the property through a mobile application. The majority of the inspections are conducted on the exterior of the properties, while around 10% may require interior photos if the property is found vacant. This position is contracted at a county level, meaning you'll handle all inspections within your designated area. In some instances, you might share your county with another inspector to manage higher volumes. Your Responsibilities: Complete typical inspections in approximately 5-6 minutes. Finish the inspection within 4 days of assignment. Assess and report on the general property conditions and determine occupancy based on established industry standards. Capture a minimum of 9 photos of the property along with brief comments. Utilize a mobile app to complete a short inspection form. Be prepared for extensive driving and making multiple stops throughout your assigned territory. Requirements: A computer with an internet connection. A reliable vehicle with good gas mileage (as you'll be responsible for your own gas expenses). A smartphone (either Android or iPhone). A printer. The ability to pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license. Compensation and Work Hours: This is a 1099 contractor role with a flat fee per inspection. Pay rates vary depending on your county and inspection volume, typically resulting in earnings of $20-$30 per hour. In urban or rural counties, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections each month, working 2 to 30 hours weekly. Generally, lower volume counties offer higher rates, while busier areas provide lower rates. There’s no fixed number of inspections per month, but rest assured, work is steady month-to-month. As your experience grows and you expand your availability or coverage area, your earnings can increase! Please note that there is no additional mileage reimbursement beyond the inspection fee.
