The Nutrition Program Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering a cost-effective food services program designed to meet the nutritional needs of students while adhering to local regulations and nutrition guidelines. This position requires technical knowledge and expertise in government-mandated nutritional standards to develop effective healthy menu plans. You will collaborate closely with the operations, culinary, and management teams to achieve these goals. Aramark Student Nutrition proudly serves food and nutrition services to over 350 school districts across the U.S., providing a variety of dining options that include breakfast and lunch programs, after-school snacks, catering, nutrition education, and retail operations. We work together with educational institutions to craft culinary experiences that inspire student success. Key Responsibilities: Design and plan all Child Nutrition menus using specialized menu planning software, aligned with USDA guidelines and Aramark's strategic menu objectives. Maintain accurate documentation for compliance with USDA, state, and local guidelines related to meal services such as nutrient analysis reports, CN/PFS labels, and USDA workbooks. Coordinate the utilization of USDA Foods/Commodities in menu planning and assist with annual USDA Foods ordering. Support the food management process by ensuring purchasing compliance and accuracy with menus as needed, including reviewing food orders. Manage vendor and supplier relationships to guarantee the accurate stocking, availability, and timely delivery of food items. Regularly visit school cafeterias to evaluate operations using audit tools to control food costs and ensure allergen readiness. Assist with the training of new employees on adhering to food safety standards and compliance with menu and recipe requirements. Provide support to students with dietary needs or food allergies, which includes menu development and training frontline associates. Ensure adherence to client nutrition and wellness policies and contractual obligations. Educate clients and consumers on healthy food choices through training programs and community outreach initiatives. Job duties may evolve, and new responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. Qualifications: Must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or RDN Eligible within six months of hire. A completed bachelor's degree along with coursework accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), which requires successful completion of an internship program, a satisfactory exam score, and continuing education fulfillment. Maintain any necessary additional certifications, registrations, licenses, or credentials. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and positive attitude toward all customers and co-workers. Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Self-motivated, able to work independently, and skilled in problem-solving with minimal supervision. Proficient in PC applications and prior experience with food production systems is preferred.
