Minimum Qualifications No experience or training is required. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Protect life and property, conduct proactive patrols, auto crash/theft, injury investigations, respond to calls for service, direct traffic, and enforce applicable laws and adhere to established policies Effect arrests, when necessary on or adjacent to LSUHSC property. Greet visitors and the public while offering assistance and direction Accept supervisory responsibility for the LSU Health Sciences Center in the absence of a higher supervisory officer Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational In this position you are required to complete a 13 week Police Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy held in Baton Rouge or Slidell to attain POST Certification. This academy requires the passing of physical fitness training (running, sit-ups, push-ups. etc) firearms training and defensive tactics training in addition to other training. Pay rate is dependent upon applicants' qualifications.Starting rate of pay is 18.58 for a PO 1, 19.88 for a PO 2 and 21.27 for a PO 3. There is also an additional $2 Premium Pay, $1 Longevity Pay and $2.50 Shift Differential for hours worked only.These positions are in a CPG.As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Police Officer 1, 2, or 3) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
