Job Description Non CDL Delivery Driver/General Labor FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Reports to: Shipping Supervisor Department: Production Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operate Prescott Metal vehicles under 26,001 Gross Vehicle Weight-26 box truck, 13 Cube Truck and Company Van. Ensure the company vehicles are clean, maintained, and in safe working conditions. Conduct pre-trip check. Assist in palletizing/wrapping products for shipping (possible minor assembly of products). Load product to ensure it is sufficiently protected during transit. Responsible to ensure all loads are secure before leaving the yard. Visual inspection of delivered product to ensure no shipping damage occurred. If product is damaged, communicate with Production Manager/Operations Director. Attain packing-slip sign off, providing a copy to the customer and returning a signed copy to Shipping Supervisor for processing. Drive truck to the designated stop and make deliveries to customers in a safe and efficient manner. Requires city and rural driving and maneuvering in small parking lots. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Attend safety meetings when deliveries are discussed. Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment. Miscellaneous duties as assigned to help Prescott Metal achieve its goals. Inspection Requirements: Conduct pre-trip safety check of the truck including: Chock truck wheels prior to loading. Stand in front of the truck and look for leaks underneath the engine compartment. Check to ensure the truck is not leaning due to a suspension or tire pressure problem. Verify that the headlights, turn signals and running lights are working. Check the three essential fluids (coolant, oil, and power steering fluid). Look at components in the engine compartment for any issues (alternator water pump, hoses, and belts). Check tires for abrasions/cuts. Check mirrors, fuel tank (for leaks). Check rear lights and make sure they are operational. Drivers and passengers must wear seat belts. Minimum Qualifications/Technical Knowledge Required: High school diploma/vocational tech school, or equivalent. 21 years of age or older. Must have a valid Maine drivers license with a clean record to operate Prescott Metal Vehicles under 26,001 Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Two to five years of truck driving experience. Good positive attitude. Strong work ethic. Mechanically inclined. Customer service experience. Physical demands/Work Conditions: Driver will have to sit in the cab of the truck for extended periods of time. Prescription eyewear (if needed) and good hand eye coordination. Ability to deal with and manage possible challenging personalities at customers. The delivery driver frequently lifts and/or moves material up to 50 pounds. The delivery driver is required to drive distances up to 300 miles per day with minimal breaks. While performing the duties of this job, employees are exposed to varied weather conditions. Normal exposure to production/manufacturing environment subject to dust, metal shavings, machinery oil, and powder coating- and occasional office environment. Note: The delivery driver is responsible for obeying all traffic laws. In the event of an infraction, the delivery driver is personally responsible for any fines or other penalties assessed. Any moving violations must be reported immediately to the Operations Director/Production Manager and may result in disciplinary action. If the driver is involved in an accident, they must make sure to get a police report and call the Operations Director/Production Manager, so Prescott Metal can file an insurance claim.
