Position Type: Transportation/Mechanic Date Posted: 12/23/2025 Location: Bus Garage Date Available: 01/05/2025 MECHANIC QUALIFICATIONS 1. Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D. 2. Fundamental knowledge of auto mechanics 3. Valid Tennessee Commercial Driver License (CDL) 4. Minimum one year experience 5. Meets health and physical requirements 6. FLSA Non Exempt JOB GOAL To maintain school buses, maintenance vehicles, mowers, and other equipment in safe working order ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Repairs, replaces, and performs complete overhauls on engines on system-owned vehicles, including trucks, cars, and mowers 2. Repairs and replaces air/hydraulic brake and cooling systems 3. Performs miscellaneous preventive maintenance and service calls as needed 4. Orders parts and supplies when instructed 5. Serves a substitute bus driver when necessary 6. Performs other duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: 1. Pushing 2. Pulling 3. Climbing 4. Balancing 5. Bending 6. Stooping 7. Kneeling 8. Crouching 9. Crawling 10. Reaching 11.
