Providing intensive respiratory care with minimal supervision, this role focuses on delivering high-quality patient support within the scope of a Registered Respiratory Therapist's professional license. The position involves patient evaluation, treatment planning, and comprehensive respiratory therapy services in a critical illness and rehabilitation setting. This is a contract opportunity located in Raleigh, NC. Key Responsibilities: Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory and oxygen devices. Perform chest physiotherapy and secretion clearance techniques. Administer suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods. Monitor patient oxygenation and ventilation through oximetry and capnography. Conduct routine chest X-ray reviews and 12-Lead EKG tests with arrhythmia recognition. Perform pulmonary function studies and assist with bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and other procedures. Manage tracheostomy care, arterial puncture, and endotracheal tube insertion/removal. Maintain and operate mechanical ventilation and related equipment. Record and document treatment details and patient responses accurately. Communicate treatment efficacy with attending and pulmonary physicians. Adhere to laboratory testing policies where applicable. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines. Participate in equipment maintenance and repairs. Maintain respiratory therapy charge documentation and data accuracy. Desired Experience: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential. Proficiency in invasive and non-invasive ventilatory treatments. Experience in critical care or rehabilitation respiratory therapy. Knowledge of cardiopulmonary monitoring and emergency procedures. Ability to educate patients on respiratory care and equipment use.
