Join our team of dedicated Nuclear Operations Specialists responsible for ensuring the operational excellence of vital Naval submarines and aircraft carriers. As a vital member of our team, you will engage in the hands-on technical functions that are crucial to the capabilities of our fleet. Your role will encompass a wide array of responsibilities, from operating advanced nuclear propulsion plant machinery to maintaining critical electronic and propulsion systems. Responsibilities: You will have the opportunity to choose from three distinct Nuclear Operations paths, each offering unique responsibilities based on your training and interests. All positions are eligible for substantial bonuses of up to $40,000 for first-time enlistment and bonuses of up to $100,000 for re-enlistment. Machinist's Mate Nuclear (MMN): Operate and maintain steam turbines and auxiliary machinery for nuclear ship propulsion, manage systems critical to reactor operations, and perform maintenance on auxiliary machinery. Electrician's Mate Nuclear (EMN): Ensure the smooth operation of electrical systems on board, install and repair electrical equipment, and trouble-shoot circuits on advanced naval vessels. Electronics Technician Nuclear (ETN): Maintain electronic systems that power naval reactors, including the calibration of nuclear control rods that facilitate power generation. Work Environment: As an Enlisted Sailor in nuclear operations, you'll thrive in a diverse and challenging environment, working at sea or ashore, with possible assignments on nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers. Training and Advancement: Following successful completion of a 7-9 week Recruit Training, you will undergo specialized training tailored to your designated role, leading to advanced education in nuclear power systems. A School for MMNs: A comprehensive three-month training course covering essential skills in operating steam power plants and machinery. A School for EMNs: A robust six-month curriculum focused on electrical power systems, circuitry, and repair techniques. A School for ETNs: An in-depth six-month program on electronics and control systems critical for nuclear operations. Upon completion, you will attend the Naval Nuclear Power School and participate in hands-on training at Nuclear Power Training Units, where you will learn the complexities of operating a Naval nuclear power plant. Education Opportunities: You can gain up to 77 credit hours towards a degree through our technical training programs, alongside further educational benefits through the Navy College Program and the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Qualifications & Requirements: A high-school diploma or equivalent is required, along with U.S. citizenship and a successful completion of one year of Algebra. Candidates must also meet security clearance requirements.
