Join us and build a brighter future together! Horizon Construction Group specializes in the construction of multi-family housing as well as master-planned multi-use neighborhoods. With nearly 40 years of experience in development and construction, we are proud of our accomplishments. Our current construction footprint spans the Midwest: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan. We are seeking a Construction Field Supervisor to join us for our upcoming projects. As a key leader on-site, the Construction Field Supervisor plays a critical role in managing structural and mechanical scopes while driving the construction schedule. This position ensures that all work is conducted to quality standards, adheres to project timelines, and complies with safety regulations. The Supervisor collaborates closely with the on-site lead, subcontractors, inspectors, and the Project Manager to coordinate daily operations, resolve field issues, and maintain momentum throughout the build. Responsibilities: Coordinate all project field operations, including subcontractors, material deliveries, and labor, within scheduled project time frames. Ensure the project punch list is completed (100%) within 15 days of occupancy permit receipt. Manage project punch list during all construction phases to ensure quality finishes. Oversee that all trades deliver a quality finished project. Ensure timely project completion as scheduled. Monitor project schedule status daily and measure against milestone dates, maintaining communication with the office through detailed Field Reports and photo documentation. Document lessons learned throughout projects and share insights with functional leaders. Maintain a 3-week look-ahead schedule reflecting all project milestones. Formulate formal RFIs and forward to the appropriate consulting firm for response. Communicate any necessary changes to plans or specs to the design manager for implementation. Make field decisions as required, reporting to the Project Manager with results, and seek approval for any cost changes. Collaborate with the Project Manager during the budget process for establishing GMP budgets. Notify the Project Manager of issues affecting project critical dates and obtain necessary information to formulate recovery schedules if needed. Review shop drawings with attention to detail, in coordination with the Project Manager regarding methods and work coordination. Keep general condition line items within budget. Monitor general conditions monthly with Project Manager reviews. Lead on-site Horizon staff. Safety: Identify and report unsafe working conditions or practices to subcontractors, the Project Manager, and the Safety Manager. Document all safety violations per the HCG Safety Manual and take corrective actions as necessary. Collect subcontractor Safety Manuals prior to their work commencement. Initiate and document pre-construction safety discussions with each subcontractor before their start. Request and monitor adequate SDS manuals for all required subcontractor materials. Seek additional support from the Horizon Safety Manager as needed to manage project safety per the HCG Safety Manual. Complete and forward daily safety checklists to the office as directed. Qualifications: A minimum of ten years of experience in construction, particularly in large-scale multi-family residential and/or commercial construction. Must have or be able to obtain OSHA30 and First Aid/CPR certification upon employment. Familiarity with all facets of construction, including earthwork, drainage, framing, finishes, and all mechanicals is a must. Possess a high degree of construction field expertise. Ability to supervise, teach, and motivate staff; willingness to perform any required tasks while maintaining good safety habits. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with construction department members and third-party contractors. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet critical deadlines are essential. Problem-solving skills are essential. Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to write and operate standard office equipment, including a computer keyboard. Capability to stand for long periods, bend, and walk job sites that may require up to 20,000 steps daily on both even and uneven ground. Willingness to work long hours, generally 9-10 hours a day, sometimes extending up to 12-14 hours depending on job demands. Ability to walk up and down stairs while carrying weights up to 60 pounds. Vision for long distances and ability to read plans, phone, and computer screens. Capability to climb ladders from 6-8 feet to up to 24 feet. Ability to operate machinery such as skid-steers and forklifts. Strong communication ability with subcontractors, clients/customers, and teammates. Capability to move about and reach for items, and to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Ability to handle a high level of stress. Compensation: $85,000 - $125,000 Yearly Salary
