Rutland Lumber Company Timber Procurement Specialist Full Time Position Rutland Lumber Company is an independent sawmill located in Collins, MS. We are a flourishing company known for our commitment to quality and exceptional customer service. We currently seek a dedicated and experienced Timber Procurement Specialist to join our team. If you have a strong background in forestry and a passion for sustainable practices, we want you! Qualifications BS in Forestry - Registered Forester Minimum of 3+ years' experience in timber procurement and logging operations Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet, and Email Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Responsibilities Timber Procurement: Identify, cruise, appraise, and purchase standing timber (stumpage), as well as negotiate delivered wood. Relationship Management: Build and nurture long-term relationships with landowners, timber dealers, contractors, and loggers. Contract Administration: Develop, negotiate, execute timber contracts, draft timber deeds, and ensure compliance with sustainability certification standards (SFI/FSC). Harvest Oversight: Supervise logging operations, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards, as well as proper log utilization. Logistics & Inventory: Manage the wood flow to the mill, oversee inventories, provide monthly inventory updates, and adapt strategies based on market conditions. Communication: Provide regular updates on travel, job bids, market conditions, and contract completion dates.
