Summary: The Tool and Die Maker repairs and maintains production dies and tooling used in manufacturing. They read blueprints, machine and assemble parts, and make adjustments to keep tools operating properly. This role is also responsible for preparing new dies for production, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring repairs are completed safely and on time. Responsibilities: Maintain and repair production tooling while applying proper tool and die knowledge, timing principles, and rework techniques. Prepare new dies for production. Review blueprints and other instructions to modify or repair dies as required. When possible, modify or repair the die while it's in the press. Position work for machining and assembly (e.g., using machine tables, chucks). Select the machine and the machine tool setup for each task. Select materials for die modifications and repairs. Disassemble and re-assemble dies as required while inspecting for wear and damage. Machine parts for die modifications and die repairs while ensuring they meet dimensional and functional requirements. Test electrical systems and hydraulic systems in the die. Repair or replace defective components. Work to ensure modifications and repairs are done within the production deadline. Check in new dies when received from vendors and complete appropriate procedures and documents. Report breakdown of root causes, tool damage, and concerns to management. Lift dies and work pieces in a safe and efficient manner. Drive a forklift to transport and store dies and follow all safety rules. Assist with training the less experienced Tool Room employees and evaluate their progress as necessary. Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications: High school diploma is required. 5+ years of manufacturing experience with 2+ years of experience with stamping dies. 5+ years of experience with stamping dies preferred. Proficient in operating lathes, milling machines, and electrical discharge machining equipment. Strong understanding of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Must demonstrate solid mathematical ability, up to trigonometry, for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements. Excellent critical thinking skills with a focus on quality and precision. Experience with CAD software preferred. Knowledge of programming CNC machines preferred. Ability to obtain a forklift license.
