Clinicians must be proficient in cardiac monitoring and emergency response. This includes interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring. Medication management skills should include titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. Experience with ventilators is required. Floating to other units or campuses may be required based on needs. Staff will only float to areas where they are qualified and have documented competencies. Patient population includes adults with trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases. Patients require monitoring or interventions every 1 to 2 hours. The unit receives direct admissions, ICU transfers, and escalations from Rapid Response Teams. Special equipment available includes patient re-positioners and ceiling lifts. Candidates should have experience in progressive care settings such as Stepdown or similar units. The daily census in the unit is approximately 21 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Special procedures involve managing various patient diagnoses requiring close observation. This position entails a weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period.
