Job Description Note: Will need to visit Sunnyvale, Fremont, Newark, Burlingame Locations. Travel required to multiple offices within California. Degrees/Certifications Required: • B.S / BA Degree in environmental or chemical engineering, environmental studies or related field Years of Experience: • 8+ years of experience Must-Have Skills: 1. 5+ years in environmental compliance assurance, experience in California regulatory space 2. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations within the environmental field including but not limited to hazardous materials management, air permitting, industrial wastewater permitting, stormwater, hazardous waste and universal waste. 3. Able to work with cross functional teams, approachable, do research when required to support the needs of the business Nice-to-have Skills: 1. Experienced with Enablon Minimum Requirements • 5+ years in environmental compliance assurance • B.S / BA Degree in environmental or chemical engineering, environmental studies or related field • Ability to manage multiple tasks supporting environmental programs and site hazardous waste services. • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations within the environmental field including but not limited to hazardous materials management, air permitting, industrial wastewater permitting, stormwater, hazardous waste and universal waste. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products. Overview: The Environmental Engineer is responsible for environmental compliance assurance in Sunnyvale, CA. The ideal candidate has broad environmental knowledge and ability to work in a fast-paced research and development environment. This role will lead and complete tasks in all environmental aspects (air, waste, waste, wastewater, and hazardous materials management) to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, chemical management, hazardous waste, storm water, air compliance, wastewater, and emergency response. Core responsibilities • Prepare content for environmental specific training requirements • Provide incident and emergency response support • Conduct routine waste disposal inspections and removal; including RCRA waste manifest • Assess facility for potential regulatory obligations including but not limited to SPCC, air permit • Maintain inventory for HMBP and EPCRA reporting • Prepare wastewater discharge monitoring reporting • Prepare routine monthly, quarterly and annual reports • Partner with health and safety, lab personnel, facilities and XFNs to understand new tools, processes and equipment that may impact environmental operational permit obligations Pursuant to the California Fair Chance Act, Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, and San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, qualified applicants will be considered for assignment with arrest and conviction records.
