Job Description

Director, Global Polymers Process Eng. The purpose of the job is to provide strategic leadership for global polymer and catalyst process engineering and to sustain an effective interface with the manufacturing leadership team. Collaborate with global key stakeholders to maximize utilization and profitability of global polymer and catalyst production lines while continuously improving process safety performance. Areas of accountability include process engineering direction on major capital projects, coordination and prioritization of initiatives with business, R&D, manufacturing and global projects leadership, and leadership of polymer and catalyst global process owners. A day in the life includes: Providing strategic leadership for global polymer and catalyst process engineering Engaging with polymer business key stakeholders, influencing technical direction to ensure optimum use of our technologies and competitive advantages Actively participating in polymer and catalyst technology networks to ensure networks are functioning effectively to drive performance improvements Driving continuous improvement through the Value Enhancement Program by identifying, developing, and supporting execution of opportunities at existing sites Participating in capital long-range planning and project prioritization Providing process engineering input for growth opportunities including technology and site selection Sustaining effective interfaces with manufacturing leadership Driving continuous improvements in our performance culture Collaborating with key stakeholders to maximize polymer and catalyst asset utilization and profitability You bring this value: Education: BS in Chemical Engineering Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in a petrochemical manufacturing environment A strong understanding of industry best practices in the areas of polymer process operations and optimization A thorough technical understanding of the company Engineering and Operational Excellence Standards and a demonstrated ability to set enterprise technical direction through their use Excellent leadership and teamwork skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels Supervision and multiple group coordination with excellent conflict resolution skills. International management experience is a plus Mentoring skills to effectively transfer technical expertise to less experienced engineers and managers, including the development of a successor None required; MBA and/or Lean Six Sigma training a plus Demonstrates advanced knowledge in several core competencies including strategic leadership, champion of change, technical knowledge, communication effectiveness, driving and managing teamwork and managerial agility Must have strong interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and empower others Requires leadership skills, technical knowledge and management experience in process equipment design, fabrication, inspection, installation, commissioning, maintenance and reliability improvement Director must have strong communication skills plus the ability to manage multiple diverse issues across a large, multi-site organization This position requires the ability to lead long range planning and organizational effectiveness initiatives This position will require global travel and the ability to develop key relationships with global leadership as related to the global polymers assets Fluent English required, additional fluency in German and/or Italian beneficial but not a pre-requisite Competencies: Build Partnerships Drive Innovation Grow Capabilities Promote Inclusion Motivational Fit Technical Skills Deliver Results LyondellBasell is an equal opportunity employer.
