Responsibilities You will conduct routine, complex, and sensitive investigations into violations of laws and regulations of the Pharmacy Practice Act, using established procedures for investigations. You will interview witnesses and respondents, document investigations, subpoena evidence, secure evidence, advice and assist with prosecution, and give sworn testimony at hearings. You will assist federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, and professional licensing boards with relevant and related complaints. You will submit written reports of findings, prepare appropriate investigative documentation, and update applicable databases as appropriate. You will conduct inspections of permitted facilities, new facilities, and relocation of facilities, and other actions (including compounding and/or licensees) for the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy to ensure compliance with all state and federal statutes and regulations. You will respond to requests for interpretation and clarification of the laws governing the practice of pharmacy. You will perform other duties such as attending professional meetings, Board and committee meetings, assist in conducting training sessions and educational programs pertaining to the practice of pharmacy. Minimum and Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in pharmacy or pharmacology or in the alternative, a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: Must be a licensed pharmacist in South Carolina and in good standing. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years' experience in regulatory, law enforcement, and the practice of pharmacy to include experience with sterile and non-sterile compounding. Significant recent experience in the practice of pharmacy for competent application of the principles of current pharmacy practice. Ability to conduct investigations and knowledge of legal principles, practices, and processes. Considerable knowledge and skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and computer software programs. Strong customer service skills. Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws governing the practice of pharmacy. Knowledge of inspection and investigative techniques, audit principles, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with the public, Board members, licensees, staff, other professionals, and other state and federal agencies at various levels of responsibility. Expertise in obtaining and disseminating information. Other Requirements Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's License and provide a 10-year MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines. Must be able to drive a state or personal vehicle to complete job duties. Requires extended periods of standing, sitting, and/or driving and may require visiting facilities that are non-ADA complaint. Occasional work outside of normal Agency business hours. Frequent statewide travel required with occasional overnight travel. Daily telephone and computer use. May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
