Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, rotating Employment Type: Travel Job Overview Seeking an experienced Stepdown/Intermediate Care RN for a 13-week travel assignment in a 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit. This unit manages cardiac, post-procedural, and higher-acuity medical patients requiring continuous monitoring and titratable drips. This is a rotating day/night position with weekend requirements and a 48-hour weekly guarantee. Responsibilities Provide care to intermediate care patients with ratios typically 1:5 (goal 1:4; occasionally 1:6) Manage cardiac and telemetry patients Interpret and respond to telemetry rhythms Titrate drips including: Amiodarone Cardizem Dopamine Dobutamine Labetalol Nitro Heparin Occasionally Lasix Care for patients with diagnoses including: Chest pain / rule out MI CHF Arrhythmias Post-pacemaker Pre/Post cardiac catheterization Tikosyn therapy management Perform groin checks and manage radial bands (no sheath pulling) Float to Telemetry or Med Surg as needed (ratios up to 1:6-1:7 in Med Surg, not common) Document in Allscripts Collaborate with 24/7 in-house hospitalist, intensivist, IV team, RT, and pharmacy Requirements Active RN license BLS ACLS NIHSS Stepdown/PCU experience required Must be comfortable titrating cardiac drips Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips Must reside 50+ miles from facility (no locals) Copy of unexpired driver's license required at submission Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission Additional Details Shift: 12-hour rotating days and nights (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) Must be ready on unit by 6:45 AM/PM 48 hours guaranteed weekly Weekend requirements: Fri/Sat/Sun considered weekend Nights: 4 weekend night shifts per 4-week schedule Days: 4 weekend day shifts per 4-week schedule Straight day schedules require minimum 3 night shifts per 4 weeks Self-scheduling allowed based on unit needs Scrubs: Navy blue top and bottom (no hoodies) Artificial nails not permitted 2 shifts allowed cancellation per 13-week contract Strict attendance policy 50-mile radius rule applies (no locals). Driver's license copy required at submission. Must have strong cardiac Stepdown experience and drip titration skills. 48-hour weekly guarantee with rotating shift schedule. Travelers may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time.
