HR Payroll Specialist The HR Payroll Specialist works collaboratively with the Human Resources to complete the daily functions of the Department including but not limited to employee pay, compensation adjustments, payroll postings, attendance tracking, recordkeeping, employee relations, and supporting company policies and practices. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Additional duties as assigned): Provide professional payroll support in a variety of areas to include employment, employee relations, compensation, and training. Maintain ADP and CDK with personnel information and accurate payroll record. Assist with processing payroll paperwork, recording changes accurately in systems, salary increases, etc. Conduct regularly scheduled audits of payroll records to ensure continued accuracy. Prepare pay to ensure that employees are paid on time and in the correct amount. Audit timecards weekly to ensure that managers are completing duties correctly, responsibility of accuracy stays with the payroll specialist. Process data and prepare tax information for Finance Department. Keep abreast of existing and new employee relations laws and policies to assure clarity of interpretation and compliance with all laws and regulations governing payroll. Work with the leadership team to promote corporate values and culture. Checking timesheets for accuracy. Entering data into databases and spreadsheets. Handling direct deposit requests and data. Processing paper checks for distribution. Acquiring all necessary signatures to distribute payroll. Processing wage garnishments. Required Experience and Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required. Associate degree or bachelor's degree in human resource management, Business Administration, or related field desired. Some HR experience desired, but not required. Basic understanding of the automobile business desired. Additional Requirements: Valid New York State Driver License. Location: Ithaca, NY Corporate Headquarters with travel to other dealerships including the Syracuse, NY and Grand Island, NY markets occasionally Required Skills and Attributes: Computer proficiency includes word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications. Some analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems. Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multitasked environment. Must have the ability to act and perform exemplary and work independently. Strong written and oral communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a professional and helpful manner in person or via phone or written correspondence. Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports. Outstanding verbal presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to understand and handle sensitive and confidential information. Collect, verify, and record employee attendance, including hours worked Compute wages, commissions, and deductions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, including remittance of payroll taxes Process and monitor garnishment orders Handle employee complaints about incorrect payments and resolve discrepancies Equipment, Machines and Software Used: Computer software: Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, ADP, and CDK. Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists. Mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer terminal, and reading. Physical Exertion: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Light exertion can involve sitting, walking and/or standing most of the time. Environmental Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting. Occasional weekend and evening hours are required. Hazards and Safety Precautions: Hazards: Slips, trips and falls, ergonomic injuries, and occasional lifting. Safety Precautions: Breaks are encouraged to allow for stretching and training is provided covering slips, trips, and falls, safe lifting and stretching techniques.
