Position Type: Technology/Low Voltage Technician Date Posted: 1/23/2026 Location: Jackson & Klamath Counties Closing Date: Open until filled Southern Oregon ESD is seeking a Low Voltage Technician with a limited energy license who is able to perform skilled electrical work in installation, repair, alteration, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment, as well as related duties. Duties include installation, repair, and maintenance of extended branch circuits, audio visual equipment, intercom systems, network cabling, security cameras, access control equipment, and other electrical and limited energy systems and equipment. The successful candidate would also ensure that electrical work performed at SOESD is in accordance with standard practices of the trade and in compliance with state and local regulations. A variety of shifts are available, and the position can be based out of either Jackson or Klamath County. The Rogue Valley is the cultural and economic heart of southern Oregon, home to legendary snow-skiing, white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, and fishing, as well as numerous cultural venues and events such as art galleries, the Britt Music Festivals, the Ashland Independent Film Festival, and the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. For more information on living in the area, please see: Education: Cultural Opportunities: Recreational Opportunities: Health Care: Klamath Falls: Low Voltage Technician POSITION GOAL: Perform skilled duties in the design, maintenance, repair and installation of various school building low voltage systems. Assist with in-shop repairs of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. Essential Duties: 1. Install, maintain, and repair various low-voltage systems, including LAN, PA, CCTV, CATV, intercom, A/V systems, wireless access points, fire and security alarms, fiber, and classroom technologies. 2. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals to perform skilled installations and repairs in accordance with applicable codes. 3. Conduct diagnostic testing, perform system checks, and troubleshoot limited energy equipment to ensure reliable operation. 4. Collaborate with staff, contractors, and other trades during construction, renovation, or system upgrades to coordinate low-voltage service needs. 5. Estimate time, labor, and materials required for assigned tasks and submit requisitions for materials and equipment. 6. Maintain records of services provided, parts used, and system configurations to ensure accurate documentation. 7. Assist with the evaluation, design, and planning of new systems and infrastructure. 8. Maintain safe working conditions, follow OSHA, OR-OSHA, and district safety guidelines, and promptly report any hazards or incidents. 9. Participate in the training and mentorship of team members or temporary staff as assigned. 10. Attend job-related workshops and in-service trainings to maintain current knowledge of industry practices and code requirements. 11. Operate power tools and mechanical lift equipment safely; maintain and transport necessary tools, materials, and equipment. 12. Obtain and maintain permits as needed from regulatory agencies for project compliance. 13. Assist in the training of other personnel in the department. 14. Communicate clearly and appropriately. 15. Participate in professional growth activities. 16. Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with SOESD employees, local education agency representatives, and others contacted during the course of the workday. 17. Follow established SOESD policies and procedures. 18. Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation. 19. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with five (5) years or more of related work experience. Prefer related specialist training certificate, electronics, trade, or formalized schooling or equivalent on-the-job training. 1.High School Diploma or GED. 2.Valid Oregon Driver's License and safe driving record. 3.Valid Oregon Limited Energy-A (LEA), Limited Energy-B (LEB) license, Oregon Limited Energy Limited Journeyman or equivalent. 4.Minimum five (5) years of experience in the installation and repair of low-voltage systems preferred. 5.Knowledge of applicable Oregon Building Codes, National Electrical Code, and safety practices. 6.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and perform accurate installations to specification. 7.Skilled in using testing tools, repair equipment, ladders, lifts, and computers. 8.Proficient in the use of productivity software and internet-based research to support field service documentation and solutions. 9.Ability to communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions, and maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders. 10.Knowledge of safety procedures, guidelines, and rules. LOCATION: In person at the SOESD Medford Office: 101 North Grape Street, Medford, OR 97501 LENGTH OF POSITION: 258 days (annual year-round position) PAY: Per Classified Hourly Compensation Schedule, $26.15 - $35.82 starting hourly wage, (commensurate with applicant's qualifications, relevant training and experience) for the 2025-2026 school year.
