This position supports the medical surveillance program for USSS personnel and law enforcement instructors by performing required occupational health testing and clinical services in accordance with established medical protocols and federal occupational health standards.The per diem RN is primarily responsible for supporting medical surveillance activities, including blood specimen collection, audiometric testing, and administration of required vaccinations for personnel participating in the mandatory medical examination program.The per diem RN may be scheduled to support the Occupational Health Clinic (OHC) in Washington, DC based on clinic needs and RN scheduled availability. When supporting the HQ clinic, the RN will perform the full scope of occupational health clinical services consistent with established clinic protocols and under the supervision of the clinic leadership.The RN will participate in vaccination and immunization services, including routine immunizations, foreign travel vaccinations, and seasonal vaccination programs. The RN may support outreach vaccination events conducted for employees and other designated locations.In addition, the RN will assist with medical record review and case preparation in accordance with written medical guidelines and standardized nurse review training provided by the Medical Director. The Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will be available to provide clinical oversight, consultation, and guidance as needed.The per diem RN reports directly to the RN Manager for the USSS HQ OHC and supports the delivery of high-quality, compliant occupational health services in accordance with contract requirements and applicable regulatory standards.Responsibilities:The per diem RN shall perform duties consistent with occupational health nursing practice and the operational requirements of the USSS occupational health program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Clinical Services and Medical Surveillance· Perform occupational health medical surveillance testing for personnel and law enforcement instructors.· Conduct specimen collection for laboratory testing for medical surveillance programs.· Perform audiometric testing in accordance with occupational hearing conservation program requirements.· Assist in the administration of medical examinations associated with the mandatory medical examination program.· Ensure all clinical procedures are performed in accordance with established medical protocols, regulatory requirements, and occupational health standards.Vaccination and Immunization Services· Administer required routine vaccines, seasonal influenza vaccines, and foreign travel-related vaccines to personnel.· Support vaccination requirements associated with the mandatory medical examination program and operational readiness activities.· Participate in vaccination outreach services, including vaccination and flu-shot clinics conducted at the training center and other designated locations.· Support outreach vaccination events annually (approximately 48 + events), as required by the program.· Maintain compliance with vaccine storage, handling, and documentation requirements in accordance with established protocols.Occupational Health Clinic Support· Provide clinical support for occupational health examinations and services conducted at the training center and, when scheduled, at the HQ OHC in Washington, DC.· Perform vital signs, medical history review, and assist with clinical procedures associated with occupational health evaluations.· Support clinic operations to safely and efficiently conduct surveillance testing activities.Nurse Medical Record Review and Determinations· Assist with medical record review and case preparation in accordance with written medical guidelines and standardized nurse review training provided by the Medical Director.· Apply established protocols to evaluate medical records, exam findings, and diagnostic results to support occupational health clearance and program compliance.· Escalate cases outside established protocols to the Medical Director or CMO for review and clinical determination.Cross Coverage and Clinic Operations· Provide cross-coverage support to the HQ OHC when scheduled and based on clinic needs and RN availability.· Assist with patient scheduling, examinee flow, and coordination of occupational health services as needed.· Support clinic operations to ensure continuity of services during periods of increased workload or staff absence.Documentation and Compliance· Accurately document all clinical services, testing results, and immunizations in the designated medical record system.· Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable federal regulations.· Participate in quality assurance activities and support efforts to maintain regulatory and program compliance.Training and Professional Requirements· Maintain required clinical competencies for occupational health procedures including phlebotomy, audiometric testing, and vaccine administration.· Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS)/AED certification.· Participate in required training, in-service education, and competency validation as directed by clinic leadership.Qualifications:· Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).· Current, active, and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.· Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience, preferably including occupational health, employee health, primary care, urgent care, or similar clinical settings.· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent nationally recognized organization.· Demonstrated proficiency in performing clinical screening and diagnostic procedures including vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, audiometry, spirometry, and EKG.· Experience administering adult immunizations, including routine vaccines and travel-related immunizations.· Knowledge of infection control practices, vaccine storage and handling procedures, and clinical safety protocols.· Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-based clinical environment.· Proficiency with electronic systems and standard office software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.· Ability to successfully pass and maintain required background investigations, including a Tier 4 (High-Risk Public Trust) background investigation, as required for work within a federal law enforcement environment.· Must successfully pass and maintain required credentialing, background checks, and drug screening in accordance with federal contract requirements and Summit Healthcare Solutions policies.Preferred Qualifications:· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program.· Prior experience working in an occupational health, employee health, or federal health clinic environment.· Experience supporting occupational medical surveillance programs, including audiometric testing, respirator medical evaluations, pulmonary function testing (spirometry), and other job-related medical monitoring programs.· Professional Certification in Occupational Health Nursing- Specialist (COHN or COHN-S).· Certification as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) or equivalent training in occupational audiometric testing and hearing conservation programs.· Completion of NIOSH-approved spirometry training for the performance and quality control of occupational pulmonary function testing.· Experience serving as a vaccine coordinator, including vaccine storage, handling, documentation, and compliance with immunization program requirements.· Experience supporting vaccination clinics or mass immunization programs.· Familiarity with OSHA, NIOSH, and federal occupational health regulations governing workplace medical surveillance programs.· Experience performing chart audits, quality assurance reviews, and clinical documentation compliance activities.· Experience working in federal, law enforcement, military, or government healthcare environments.Physical Requirements:· Work is primarily performed in an interior clinical and office environment within a medical clinic setting.· Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing medical records, documenting clinical information, and performing administrative duties using computer systems.· Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods while performing clinical screening procedures, preparing examinees for medical evaluations, and coordinating clinic operations.· Ability to perform routine clinical procedures including vital signs assessment, vision screening, audiometric testing, pulmonary function testing (spirometry), electrocardiograms (EKG), phlebotomy, specimen collection, and vaccine administration.· Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical diagnostic equipment, clinical instruments, and computer systems.· Ability to lift, carry, push, or move medical supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.· Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements associated with clinical procedures and equipment operation.· Visual acuity sufficient to read medical documentation, diagnostic results, equipment displays, and electronic health records.· Ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and other professionals in person and through electronic communication systems.· Ability to maintain
