A Senior IBM z/VM Systems Programmer plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of information systems that support essential organizational functions. By monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing operating systems, you will contribute significantly to the stability and integrity of our technology environment. This role involves collaborating closely with the Manager of the z/VM, z/Linux team while managing z/VM operating systems across various LPARS and multiple clients. Key Responsibilities: Manage storage, system backup/restore, tape encryption, and disaster recovery planning. Support Incident and Change Management processes effectively. Track operational performance and quality of services delivered through metrics. Collaborate with Data Center Operations to ensure SLAs are consistently met. Coordinate system modifications with IT and business unit managers to enhance alignment. Facilitate multiple annual Disaster Recovery exercises across a variety of client environments. Oversee z/VM systems, including management of software, network, availability, capacity, performance, storage, and security. Work collaboratively in a multi-client environment with knowledge of software such as: Velocity Performance Suite (zVPS, zPRO, zVRM) Broadcom / CA VM:Manager and related products IBM Dirmaint IBM RACF Provide off-hours support as required and participate in the on-call schedule. Familiarity with platforms including z/VM, z/VSE, and Linux on IBM Z is essential. Qualifications: To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications: At least 10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Expertise in upgrading and maintaining z/VM using VMSES. Experience installing and administering z/VM-related ISV products (e.g., CA-VM:Manager). Working knowledge of z/VM security management using VM:Secure and RACF. Experience in z/VM performance and capacity tuning and reporting. Familiarity with SSI (Single System Image) installation and implementation. Experience in storage administration, DFSMS/VM, and virtual tape management. Ability to support workloads in environments such as Linux on IBM Z, z/VSE, CMS, and z/OS. Proficient in provisioning and managing virtual machines using VM directory or tools like VM:Secure or DirMaint. Advanced knowledge of system network design and configuration at the operating system level, including OSA, TCP/IP, and VSWITCH. Storage management and disaster recovery planning experience. Mentorship skills to guide junior team members in all areas of responsibility. Familiarity with the tool ServiceNow is desirable. Why Join Us?
