General Purpose: The Loss Prevention Specialist maintains a visible presence at store entrances and exits, helping to prevent theft and fraud while ensuring a secure environment for all associates and customers. Through friendly interactions, such as making eye contact and greeting customers, the Specialist deters potential theft and enforces the necessary package inspection policies. The role involves monitoring the sales floor for any theft indicators and partnering with store leadership to adhere to loss prevention guidelines and minimize operational shortages. Essential Functions: Safety and Security: Prioritizes safety by practicing safe behaviors and assisting leadership in creating a secure environment. Visible Presence: Provides a strong presence at entrance and sales floor, greeting customers and monitoring for safety issues. Emergency Readiness: Ensures clear access to emergency exits by removing any obstructions. Team Development and Partnerships: Delivers outstanding customer service through friendly greetings and assistance. Treats every customer and associate with respect. Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy at all times. Engages in collaboration with internal and external partners, attending meetings and providing recognition. Performs additional duties to support loss prevention goals. Brand Representation: Embodies and represents the company brand consistently. Follows the company dress code to maintain a professional appearance. Theft Prevention and Fraud Mitigation: Monitors for suspicious behavior at entrances, exits, and on the sales floor. Collects theft indicators and communicates findings to store and loss prevention leadership. Adheres to protocols for responding to external theft incidents. Implements company best practices to maximize productivity. Operational Shortage Minimization: Educates store team on processes to reduce operational shortages. Observes and validates correct checkout procedures for customers and associates. Key Competencies: Effective management of work processes. Solid business acumen. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred. One year of retail supervisory experience or similar training preferred. One year of loss prevention/security training preferred. Active Security Guard License preferred. Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated conflict resolution abilities. Must comply with all security position requirements, including background checks and physical examinations. Physical Requirements: Consistent punctuality and attendance. Ability to stand and move around the store for the entire shift. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing more than 25 lbs.
