Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job 1. Communicates effectively in written and verbal form. 2. Adheres to department policy of using two patient identifiers. 3. Avoids HIPAA violations by choosing correct MRN and interviews, registers, and pre-registers patients timely and accurately in Epic. 4. Ensures all registration forms are complete, signed, and scanned. Enters notes in Epic as required. 5. Provides excellent customer service using Simply Better and AIDET principles. 6. Collects and posts payments timely and accurately. Immediately drops payment in safe or cash drawer. 7. Maintains registration accuracy rate of 95% or better. 8. Monitors and manages work queues. 9. PBX: answers calls timely, professionally, and routes calls appropriately. Ability to understand and follow all emergency codes and alarm paging protocols. 10. Ability to be at work and be on time. 11. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives. Supports department performance improvement activities. (Meetings, employee engagement survey, education, and training activities). 12. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner. 13. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Qualifications Minimum Requirements 1-2 years Medical Office/Admitting/Registration or equivalent healthcare experience preferred General knowledge of insurance payors: PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, & CalOptima Bi-lingual (English/Spanish, or English/Vietnamese) preferred General computer skills required including electronic medical record and Microsoft Office Knowledge of medical terminology Education High school graduate preferred Medical Terminology related course or certificate preferred
