Summary: Under supervision of the Senior Operations Manager and Facilities Manager. Maintain the safety and security of our facilities during weekend overnight hours. They will demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to ensuring a secure environment for all staff and tenants. Essential Job Functions: Patrol the premises, including the wharf, docks, and building perimeters, to monitor for suspicious activity, security breaches, and unauthorized access. Respond promptly to any security incidents, following established protocols to ensure safety. Monitor and operate surveillance equipment, reviewing footage when necessary to identify potential security issues. Ensure all gates, doors, and access points are securely locked. Conduct routine checks of the facilities to identify potential hazards or maintenance needs and report findings to the Facilities Manager. Log all security incidents, activities, and any observations made during shifts and report them out in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain a visible presence on-site to deter unauthorized access and ensure the safety of tenants and visitors. Assist with access control, including greeting and verifying contractors during early morning hours. Coordinate with local law enforcement or emergency services in case of significant incidents. Ensure compliance with AltaSea's security protocols and contribute to continual improvement of site safety measures. Ensure proficiency in utilizing online technology platforms, such as Envoy, for managing visitor check-ins, tracking personnel, and maintaining security logs. Must be comfortable navigating and using these tools to streamline operations and enhance overall security efficiency. Primary Interactions: AltaSea colleagues May have periodic interaction with Tenants Local Port Police as needed Contractors and other various vendors Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to notice small signs of unusual activity or security breaches during patrols or while monitoring surveillance systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with tenants, visitors, emergency services, and reporting incidents. Quick decision-making and critical thinking, especially when managing unexpected security incidents or emergencies. Ability to walk, stand, and patrol large areas for extended periods, as well as respond physically to emergencies. Ability to stay alert and vigilant throughout the night shift, proactively recognizing and addressing potential security threats. Comfortable with operating security technology (i.e. Envoy), including cameras, alarm systems, and mobile devices for incident logging and communication. Skill in handling tense situations or disputes calmly and effectively, particularly when dealing with unauthorized individuals. These knowledge areas and skills will help ensure the Night Security Officer can handle the various challenges of securing AltaSea's facilities. Ability to identify unsafe construction or repair activities and make real-time decisions or reports that contribute to creating a safer environment. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED (required). Security Guard License (preferred). CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred but not required). Additional training or coursework in security, law enforcement, or a related field (preferred).
