Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 04/06/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 4x12hrs Hours: 48 hrs/wk Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC)/Stepdown unit at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of experience. Details Acute care hospital setting in a Stepdown/PCU/IMC unit Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, renal, and post-surgical cases Schedule is 3x12 night shifts (1845–0715); 4x12 schedule may be accommodated Every other weekend required Floating within scope required to meet facility needs No on-call requirements Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred) Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction Requirements Active IL RN license required; pending licensure not accepted Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS preferred Minimum 1 year of RN experience required Required setting experience: Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown unit Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and Rapid Response Team utilization Cardiovascular experience required: Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, and TR Band IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, PCA, and procedural sedation administration Respiratory skills required: ventilated patient care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management Neurological case experience required: CVA, craniotomy, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury Orthopedic experience required: ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements Additional skills required: feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, skin grafts, surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions Teaching hospital experience preferred Level I Trauma experience preferred Additional Information First-time travelers are not accepted for this position RTO is ideally no more than 5 days for the duration of the assignment; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration Block scheduling may be discussed with the manager Scrub color: any solid color Parking is available on-site at no cost; a parking permit is obtained during orientation 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required American Traveler Job ID P-678877.
