For more information, please visit our website:Job Title: Director, Visual Merchandising Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 Type: Full-Time, Exempt Location: Colorado (Multi-State Oversight: CO & NM) Position Objective The Director of Visual Merchandising is a commercially driven leader responsible for translating merchandising strategy into compelling in-store execution across a multi-banner retail portfolio. Operating within a merchant-led organization, this role ensures that visual merchandising serves as a revenue-driving discipline that supports category management, assortment strategy, and sell-through performance. The Director will lead visual execution across three banners in Colorado and drive operational and presentation synergies across two banners in New Mexico, ensuring consistency, productivity, and brand clarity across all retail environments. This role partners closely with Category Management and maintains a strong support line to the CEO and CSO, ensuring visual presentation directly aligns with enterprise commercial priorities. The Director leads a team of visual merchandisers across both states and maintains a collaborative, dotted-line partnership with Marketing to ensure alignment between promotional storytelling and in-store execution. Essential Functions Commercial & Merchant Alignment (30%) Serve as a commercial partner to Category Management, ensuring visual merchandising strategy directly supports revenue growth, gross margin expansion, and inventory turn objectives. Translate assortment architecture, pricing tiers, promotional cadence, and vendor strategy into disciplined in-store execution that optimizes space productivity and basket size. Evaluate presentation decisions through a P&L lens, understanding downstream impact on margin, markdown risk, and working capital Align visual priorities with enterprise growth initiatives, ensuring banner positioning reflects competitive differentiation and evolving consumer demand. Drive measurable performance outcomes by linking floor placement, adjacencies, and promotional exposure to sell-through velocity and category contribution. Support a merchant-led operating cadence by participating in assortment reviews, promotional planning cycles, and performance readouts. Multi-Banner Strategy & Execution (25%) Lead visual strategy across 70+ retail locations, balancing brand clarity with commercial performance across three banners in Colorado and two banners in New Mexico. Develop scalable visual frameworks that accommodate banner differentiation while enabling operational efficiencies and cost discipline. Standardize execution models to reduce variability, protect margin, and ensure consistent customer experience across markets. Oversee capital-sensitive initiatives including new store openings, remodels, and fixture investments with disciplined budget oversight. Identify structural synergies across banners that improve productivity without compromising brand identity. Planogram & Space Productivity Leadership (20%) Partner with merchants to design data-driven planograms that prioritize high-margin, high-velocity, and strategic growth categories. Analyze category performance, attachment rates, basket composition, and promotional lift to inform space reallocation decisions. Apply productivity metrics such as sales per square foot, gross margin return on space, and inventory density to optimize presentation strategy. Establish and monitor KPIs tied to commercial impact, not just aesthetic compliance. Continuously refine presentation standards based on market trends, competitive intelligence, and evolving assortment strategy. Team Leadership & Operational Excellence (15%) Lead and develop a multi-state team of visual merchandisers with clear performance expectations tied to commercial outcomes. Implement structured field audit processes that measure execution quality and revenue impact. Build scalable tools, templates, and playbooks that support speed, repeatability, and cost control across banners. Drive disciplined project management across resets, seasonal transitions, and promotional campaigns. Cross-Functional Partnership (10%) Maintain a strong dotted-line partnership with Marketing to ensure promotional storytelling enhances merchant priorities and category performance. Collaborate closely with Operations to ensure visual standards are executable within labor models and store workflows. Partner with Compliance to ensure all presentation strategies meet regulatory requirements without limiting commercial effectiveness. Engage senior leadership, including CEO and CSO, with measurable performance insights demonstrating how visual strategy contributes to enterprise results. Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, or related field preferred. 810+ years of progressive visual merchandising experience, with multi-unit retail exposure required. Demonstrated experience operating within a merchant-led or commercially disciplined retail organization. Strong understanding of category management, space planning, and inventory productivity. Proven ability to translate data into actionable presentation strategy. Experience managing multi-banner or multi-brand retail environments preferred. Ability to influence cross-functionally, including executive stakeholders. Strong project management and operational execution skills. Knowledge of cannabis regulatory environments in Colorado and New Mexico preferred. Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel) Schedule may vary depending on the needs of the business, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Frequent travel within the Colorado and New Mexico markets is required. Must have reliable transportation to travel independently between retail locations and markets. Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid New Mexico Food Handler License to support safe and compliant handling of cannabis products.
