Installs, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates/adjusts electronic equipment in order to maintain proper operating standards; performs preventative maintenance on electronic and electro-mechanical equipment; Operates various electronic test and measuring devices such as a multimeter, oscilloscope, calibrator, line tester, RF power meter, and other diagnostic tools in order to test equipment and ensure proper functioning; Maintains and updates daily work records and files on repair history of equipment and submits regular work reports to supervisors; Generates and maintains electronic communication software including network monitoring programs, network statistics programs, network diagnostic programs, and/or line protocol test routines; Makes emergency runs to repair and/or service damaged cable lines, radio equipment, amplifiers, AC power units, and other electronic systems field equipment; Interprets wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturers' manuals to assist in troubleshooting and repairing telephone, radio, computer, process control instrumentation, or other electronic equipment; Installs, tests, repairs and maintains traffic signal equipment, and video detection equipment for traffic control; Tests all traffic signal equipment cabinets and components before putting into street operation; Installs, calibrates, and repairs various chemical additive equipment, electronic control valves, pumping devices, and process control instrumentation such as liquid flow meters, chemical analyzers, and liquid level, pressure, and temperature sensors; Programs remote terminal units and programmable logic controllers for water collection, treatment, and distribution processes; installs and maintains variable frequency drives; Performs routine inspections, calibration, and maintenance on gas detection and other electronic equipment; Programs electronic equipment by entering a series of codes in order to meet operating specifications; utilizes computer software to program and adjust equipment; Determines the quality, size, capability, and quantity of cable and other accessories necessary for an assignment; Installs, tests, and maintains electronic/telephone/computer system cable or wire; Practices safety related to performance of duties to include use of personal protective equipment and precautions when working with and around power sources. Minimum QualificationsTwo (2) years of experience learning or assisting in the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of electronic equipment for telephone, radio, mobile data, data processing, traffic control, video, or instrumentation and control systems. Substitution(s): Successful completion of a formal classroom or vocational training program related to electronics may substitute for the required experience. Significant coursework (twelve (12) semester hours or eighteen (18) quarter hours) related to electronics from an accredited college may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.Possession of a valid driver’s license.Test/Job Contact InformationQUALIFYING NONCOMPETITIVE EXAMINATION ANNOUNCEMENT: The names of the applicants passing this administration of this exam will be used to create aNEW, QUALIFYING NONCOMPETITIVE, eligible list, and willreplacethe names of applicants on the current eligible list. Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time.All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years.
