Procurement Specialist/Manufacturing Engineer R&D Program Location: Indianapolis, IN or New York, NY About FTAI Aviation Ltd. Role Overview FTAI Aviation is seeking a highly driven expert in gas turbine engine procurement with manufacturing engineering expertise to support an aeroderivative development engine program. This individual will be responsible for supplier engagement, development, and hardware procurement for fast-make development parts and production hardware planning and development. The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Manager and Chief Design and Development Engineer to ensure hardware deliverables are achieved on time, within scope, and with operational rigor. The Procurement Specialist/Management Engineer will also collaborate with leadership, supply chain, finance, operations, and external partners to maintain alignment, manage priorities, and drive measurable results. This is a fast-paced, hands-on, high-visibility role that requires a combination of technical understanding, organizational excellence, and the ability to engage new suppliers and quickly develop cost and scheduling support to keep the program on pace. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain a supplier network for fast-make development and production parts, ensuring all deliverables and milestones are achieved on schedule. Work with supply chain and engineering to minimize lead times and any unnecessary requirements. Own the supply chain and coordinate changes needed to support design, assembly build, and test execution. Partner with the program leadership and cross-functional leaders to track progress, resolve issues, and manage priorities. Coordinate with suppliers and fabrication partners to ensure timely procurement and production readiness. Coordinate with Test Owners, Test Facilities, and Instrumentation teams to ensure all prerequisites are closed before test. Quantify schedule impact of engineering changes before approval. Develop schedule recovery plans with accountable owners and measurable outputs. Provide regular program updates, metrics, and risk assessments to senior leadership. Identify risks, interdependencies, and potential roadblocks; develop and execute mitigation plans. Foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and proactive problem-solving. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional R&D or engineering program in aerospace, energy, or related high-technology sectors. Minimum of 2 years of experience with manufacturing engineering, supplier development, or procurement is preferred. Strong understanding of engineering design, testing, procurement, and manufacturing processes. Demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers. Excellent project management, organizational, and leadership skills. Proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent). Highly driven, structured, and adaptable; able to lead through ambiguity and deliver results.
