Allegheny Health Network Allegheny General Hospital's 5A Telemetry Observation Unit is a specialized 38 bed unit focused on providing rapid assessment, treatment, and monitoring for patients with acute medical conditions. The unit features private rooms and primarily serves patients presenting with chest pain, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), and trauma. The unit operates as a Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) or Observation Unit, providing a bridge between the Emergency Department and inpatient care. Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills. Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements. Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
