Culture: Entrepreneurial and production-driven team that values underwriting discipline and market knowledge Workplace: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) in St. Petersburg, FL (going to 4/1 in 2026) BFC wants them in the on their side of the bridge (HQ in DT St. Pete) Function: Lead underwriting efforts for Builders Risk and inland marine accounts, while mentoring peers and supporting agency relationships Requirements: 7+ years of commercial underwriting experience, including Builders Risk and Inland Marine Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred Professional designations (AMIM, CPCU, CIC, or ARM) strongly valued Familiarity with ISO forms, contractors' equipment, installation floaters, and transportation risks Experience with underwriting platforms like Salesforce, Perceptive Concept, or AS400 Description: Underwrite and evaluate new and renewal accounts across inland marine lines, including Builders Risk, property in transit, and warehousing Apply appropriate pricing and coverage terms based on risk characteristics, guidelines, and market conditions Collaborate with Product, Loss Control, and Underwriting Assistants to ensure underwriting accuracy Maintain strong agency relationships and lead regular meetings (virtual and in-person) to promote growth and submission quality Contribute to the development of underwriting training materials and best practices Support internal teams through mentorship and knowledge sharing Monitor market trends and regulatory changes affecting inland marine insurance
