Senior Composites Design Engineer This position is designed for an experienced engineering professional who specializes in composite materials and structural product design. The role centers on developing fiber-reinforced polymer infrastructure components that support water and environmental systems. The engineer will contribute to the design of durable structural products while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to bring new concepts from engineering development into production. This engineer will guide the design and development of composite infrastructure products such as tanks, enclosures, structural covers, and modular structures. The role includes applying strong materials knowledge and structural analysis to develop designs that meet performance and code requirements while supporting efficient manufacturing. Key contributions include leading product development initiatives, improving design efficiency through value engineering, supporting manufacturing optimization for closed-mold composite processes, and collaborating with technical and commercial teams to develop solutions for project-specific applications. This professional will also assist with testing, validation, and documentation to ensure structural performance and regulatory alignment. Interaction with customers, certification organizations, and external engineering professionals may occur as part of project coordination and product qualification. Experience and Qualification Summary Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline. Five or more years of experience designing composite products, with deeper experience strongly valued. Strong knowledge of fiber reinforced polymer materials including resins, reinforcements, core materials, and structural bonding methods. Experience with closed mold composite manufacturing processes such as resin transfer molding or vacuum infusion. Background in structural analysis and infrastructure product design. Familiarity with infrastructure design standards and structural codes used within civil and structural engineering environments. Proficiency with three dimensional CAD modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar design platforms. Experience working collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams. Professional Engineer licensure is beneficial but not required. Ability to travel occasionally for project coordination, technical meetings, or industry events.
