Job Title: Fixture Design Engineer Reports to: Supervisor of designated department FLSA Status: EXEMPT Schedule: Monday through Friday extended hours may be required to support business needs Job Summary: A Fixture Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting tooling and fixtures used in manufacturing, inspection, assembly, and testing processes. The role focuses on improving accuracy, repeatability, safety, and efficiency in production environments. Primary duties and responsibilities:Design and develop manufacturing, inspection, welding, assembly, and testing fixtures Create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for fixtures and tooling Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and production teams to define fixture requirements Ensure fixtures meet dimensional accuracy, ergonomics, safety, and cycle-time requirements Select appropriate materials, standard components, and hardware Support fixture build, try-out, validation, and troubleshooting on the shop floor Modify existing fixtures to improve performance or accommodate design changes Prepare BOMs, tolerance stacks, and design documentation Ensure designs comply with company standards and relevant industry regulations Provide technical support during production ramp-up and ongoing manufacturing Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field Strong knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) CNC mill and lathe programming using (MasterCAM) Understanding of machining, welding, assembly, and inspection methods Experience with clamps, locators, pins, gauges, and standard tooling components Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Strong problem-solving and communication skills Preferred Skills: Knowledge of lean manufacturing and poka-yoke concepts Hands-on experience with fixture build and shop-floor support Familiarity with CMM and inspection fixture design Physical environment/work conditions: The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. Other (e.g., customer contact or access to confidential information): This position works in a production environment. The position will report directly to the Production supervisor and will have daily interaction with other team members.
