Job Description: Midlevel Oracle/SQL Database Administrator (DBA) Location: Warren, NJ Hybrid (2 Days per Week) Experience: 8 Years Key Responsibilities Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases. Support routine database operations such as backups, restores, and space management. Monitor database performance and help identify slow queries, bottlenecks, and potential improvements Help ensure database availability, reliability, and security. Performance & Monitoring Utilize database monitoring tools to track system health and performance. Assist in tuning SQL queries, indexes, and database parameters under guidance from senior DBAs. Backup & Recovery Perform and validate backup jobs. Participate in disaster recovery drills and support recovery efforts as needed. Security & Compliance Support user account provisioning and permission management. Assist in maintaining compliance with internal policies and industry standards. Support & Maintenance Respond to database-related incidents and service requests. Document configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures. Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other teams to troubleshoot issues. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). Basic understanding of Oracle Database architecture and SQL Server architecture. Strong knowledge of SQL and ability to write basic queries. Familiarity with database backup concepts, indexing, and stored procedures. Understanding of operating systems (Windows/Linux). Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Knowledge of Oracle SQL Developer, SSMS, or similar DBA tools. Exposure to PL/SQL or T-SQL scripting. Understanding of high availability solutions (Oracle RAC, Data Guard, AlwaysOn, etc.). Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) is a plus. Basic shell or PowerShell scripting.
