About the Job The role of Production Supervisor is to provide direct supervision to hourly employees in the manufacturing of food products while ensuring the safe operations of daily activities and meeting established production schedules. The Production Supervisor will effectively communicate production goals and objectives to achieve results and maintain a high standard of product quality all while maximizing plant efficiencies in support of continuous improvement. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following: Reports directly to their assigned Operations Superintendent. If required, performs duties of the Operations Superintendent in his/her absence. Provides guidance and direction to their assigned hourly team members. Support positive employee relations in all aspects of interaction with employees including valuing differences, monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures, and ensuring all policies are administered consistently and equitably across all employees Provide proper training for plant employees on HACCP/SSOP, GMP, equipment and plant safety requirements and job specific training to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. Responsible for replacement employee job training, workstation assignments/rotations (including back up for absent employees), and overtime assignment. Perform essential recordkeeping and timekeeping functions for department personnel using HRIS system. Monitor employee attendance and absenteeism, holding employees accountable as necessary Manage yield and ensure timely and accurate transactions on Production Batch Orders. Manage inventory. Build awareness with all employees around our customers to elevate understanding. Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, changeovers, and sanitation. Establish staffing levels including turnover and needs relating to product volumes. Schedule and conduct shift meetings to review safety concerns and performance along with plant performance compared to expectations. Maintain accountability for program compliance, production quantity/quality results, proper communication during critical points, and the results of Quality Audits. Reduce Customer complaints while increasing first pass quality. Other duties as assigned. Must be 18 years or older. Associate's degree in business, engineering, logistics, or related field highly preferred. Business experience can substitute for education. Two (2) or more years' experience in a leadership role. Experience in a food manufacturing environment desired but not mandatory. High-level leadership and decision-making skills. Able to motivate, influence, and train people. Able to interact with all professionals of Plant Management. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Valid Driver's License is required.
