This role supports both open shop and prevailing wage construction projects and requires hands-on ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, job costing, and compliance-related reporting. This position works closely with ownership and project management and plays a key role in the financial health and operational success of the company. Key Responsibilities: • Full-cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and monthly closings • Payroll processing for open shop and prevailing wage projects, including certified payroll reporting • Ensuring compliance with New Jersey and federal prevailing wage requirements • Construction job cost accounting, including accurate allocation of labor, materials, and equipment • Preparation and maintenance of weekly/bi-weekly Work in Progress (WIP) reports • Financial reporting including P&L statements, balance sheets, and job cost reports • Coordination with CPA for quarterly reviews and year-end reportingQualifications: • Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper, preferably in construction or steel erection • Strong knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements in New Jersey • Demonstrated experience with construction job costing and labor classifications • High proficiency in QuickBooks Online • Strong background in accounts receivable with a disciplined approach to accounts payable • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently Compensation & Benefits: • Competitive salary based on experience • Stable, long-term opportunity with a growing company • Supportive, hands-on management team This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled construction bookkeeper seeking a long-term role with responsibility, autonomy, and direct impact on company operations.
