The Substation Technician III is the highest craft level within the Substation Technician hierarchy. This role leads and executes complex substation construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities while mentoring lower level technicians. The position requires advanced technical expertise, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities / Day to Day • Lead and support substation construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities • Direct and mentor lower level technicians while enforcing safety and work standards • Plan and execute work including switching, tagging, grounding, and equipment isolation • Perform advanced electrical testing and interpret results • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot substation equipment and protection systems • Coordinate work to ensure system reliability and protection of critical assets We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or recruiting process, please send a request to learn more about how we collect, keep, and process your private information, please review Insight Global's Workforce Privacy Policy: Required Skills & Experience • 2+ years of Transmission or Distribution substation construction or maintenance experience • Strong experience with switching, tagging, grounding, and protection of critical equipment • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and protection schemes • Hands on experience with substation equipment (breakers, transformers, regulators, switches, PTs, CTs, CCVTs, grounding systems) Nice to Have Skills & Experience • Experience resolving advanced technical or operational issues • Knowledge of portable/mobile substations or transformer installations • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders • Basic proficiency with Word, email, and spreadsheets Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
