About the job Controls Engineer - Industrial Automation (PLC/DCS/HMI) Controls Engineer - Industrial Automation | Wilmington, MASalary: $110,000-$125,000 | Travel: Up to 25% | Schedule:Full-Time, Mon-Fri About the Role: We are hiring a Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission industrial control systems for manufacturing and process industries. This hands-on role includes PLC, DCS, and HMI/SCADA programming, control panel design, instrumentation integration, database management, and system commissioning. Work will be at our Wilmington, MA office and at a client facility (~35-40 minutes away) for 1.5+ years, with mileage reimbursed. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery. Program PLCs (Rockwell Automation), DCS (Emerson DeltaV), and HMI/SCADA systems (Rockwell, Ignition). Develop control system architecture, select components, and create schematics/documentation. Integrate instrumentation, manage databases, and commission systems onsite. Lead small projects and mentor junior engineers. Must-Have Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Control, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science. 5+ years of experience with PLC/DCS/HMI programming and control systems design. Instrumentation and process control experience. Knowledge of VBA, .NET, and SQL for HMI/SCADA development. Stable work history demonstrating technical expertise. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus) and automation protocols (HART, Foundation Fieldbus). Electrical schematics, control panels, and NEC standards knowledge. Familiarity with S88 Batch, life sciences regulations (cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11), GAMP5, and validation.
