Prepares and distributes medications in a timely manner. Collects patient information and explains any insurance changes or complications. Ensures pharmacists are aware of patient needs and prescription checks. Assures orders are processed, dispensed and delivered accurately and promptly. Assists in billing processes and maintains knowledge of insurance changes. Demonstrates knowledge of the generic names of medications, medication uses, and a good understanding of mathematical principles. Communicates with patients and pharmacies regarding prescription transfers, and informs patients of any problems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• One year of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, central fill, or hospital setting OR completion of a pharmacy technician student internship at AdventHealth in a retail or hospital setting, in lieu of pharmacy technician experience.
