Job Description: The Communication & Digital Media Department at Wittenberg University seeks to hire a full-time, visiting assistant professor beginning August 1, 2026. We seek a dynamic scholar-teacher whose work examines rhetoric, public discourse, and culture, through humanist frameworks, with demonstrated expertise in digital communication technologies, including artificial intelligence and computer-mediated communication. The Department of Communication & Digital Media emphasizes diverse approaches to the study of human communication, with particular attention to questions of power, representation, justice, and social change. We value interdisciplinary collaboration and seek a colleague who will contribute to the intellectual life of the college through teaching, research, and service. Candidates must also have demonstrated excellence and creativity in undergraduate teaching, strong foundation in rhetorical theory and argumentation, expertise in humanist approaches to communication scholarship, ability to teach qualitative and interpretive research methods, Commitment to mentoring and advising undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds and evidence of an active research program with potential for continued scholarly productivity. This is a one-year visiting position with the opportunity for renewal or conversion to a tenure-track line. Requirements: A Ph.D. in Communication, Rhetoric, Media Studies, or closely related field is required; candidates that are ABD working toward Ph.D. completion will be considered. Candidates must have a strong commitment and interest in teaching in the liberal arts and sciences context.
