Deliver comprehensive medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care in a dynamic hospital setting located in High Point, NC. This contract role offers the opportunity to apply strong clinical skills and contribute to a patient-centered environment at a leading healthcare facility recognized for trauma and academic excellence. Responsibilities include managing a patient load of approximately 5-6 patients per nurse with support from CNAs, overseeing complex care such as chest tubes, tracheostomies, IV starts, drains, tube management, and PCA pumps. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including rapid response, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7. Key Responsibilities: Provide direct and indirect patient care for general medicine patients with diagnoses including diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory and renal conditions, wound care, and telemetry monitoring. Perform lab draws, manage various infusions (e.g., amiodarone, fentanyl PCA), and interpret telemetry strips. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure high-quality, responsive care. Work within a highly reliable, patient-focused unit culture promoting strong teamwork. Participate in scheduled weekend rotations and holiday coverage (approximately 75% of holidays worked). Adhere to shift schedules of 0630-1900 or 1830-0630 on a 6-week rotation with manager-approved return-to-office protocols. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, with preference for strong medical-surgical/telemetry background. Licensure and certifications: RN licensure in good standing, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (required for resource team participation). Experience with telemetry, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, IV therapy, and pump management. Ability to work under moderate to high stress, strong communication skills, and effective teamwork.
