Job Description

The Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of wheeled vehicles and associated systems. This role ensures operational readiness and safety of vehicles used in transportation, logistics, or tactical operations. Key Responsibilities: • Vehicle Inspection & Diagnostics o Conduct routine and scheduled inspections of wheeled vehicles. o Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical faults. • Preventive Maintenance o Perform oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and lubrication. o Maintain service records and ensure vehicles meet operational standards. • Mechanical Repairs o Repair or replace components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, axles, and suspension systems. o Conduct overhauls and rebuilds of major vehicle systems when necessary. • Electrical System Maintenance o Troubleshoot and repair lighting, ignition, and charging systems. o Replace batteries, alternators, and wiring harnesses. • Tire and Wheel Services o Inspect, rotate, and replace tires. o Perform wheel alignment and balancing. • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems o Maintain and repair hydraulic brakes, steering systems, and lift mechanisms. o Replace seals, hoses, and fittings as needed. • Field Support (if applicable) o Provide mobile repair services in field or remote environments. o Recover and tow disabled vehicles. • Safety & Compliance o Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE. o Ensure vehicles comply with environmental and operational regulations. • Tool & Inventory Management o Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition. o Track parts usage and assist with inventory control. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred. • Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic (military or civilian). • Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Valid driver's license; CDL or military license may be required.
