LHH is partnering with a wellestablished, financially stable organization headquartered in East County San Diego to hire an Assistant Controller. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen the accounting function, modernize processes, and support longterm growth. The organization has a national and international footprint and leadership is investing heavily in systems, automation, and people to create efficiencies. This is a collaborative, lowego environment where people work together and respect boundaries around worklife balance. Position Overview The Assistant Controller will partner closely with the Controller and CFO to oversee daily accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, and help drive process improvements across the finance team. This role is handson and ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves while also mentoring others and helping the organization scale responsibly. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations & Close Review and approve journal entries prepared by the accounting team Perform and oversee balance sheet reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy Support monthend and yearend close, with a focus on reducing close timelines Provide guidance on estimates, accruals, and complex accounting matters Leadership & Team Support Support and mentor accounting staff through review, training, and feedback Partner with the Accounting Manager on workload management and development Collaborate crossfunctionally with purchasing and operations teams Systems & Process Improvement Work within a modern ERP environment (recently implemented) and support ongoing optimization Partner on AP automation initiatives and system rollouts Assist with evaluating and implementing new tools, including fixed assets and closemanagement solutions Contribute to futurestate initiatives, including budgeting and reporting enhancements Controls, Audit & Compliance Strengthen and maintain internal controls and accounting policies Support annual audits and preparation of schedules and documentation Assist with improving documentation, workflows, and financial discipline Inventory & Reporting Oversee accounting related to inventory held across multiple locations Ensure accurate valuation, reconciliation, and reporting Support management reporting and financial analysis as needed Ideal Candidate Profile Confident, steady, and solutionsoriented Comfortable operating in both leadership and handson capacities Strong communicator who can guide others without micromanaging Enjoys improving processes and making things run cleaner and faster Values a professional, respectful workplace with modern resources Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas) ERP experience required (systemagnostic; depth of use matters more than brand) Inventory accounting experience highly beneficial Benefits Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement contributions, and paid holidays Pay Details: $120,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year Search managed by: Erin Kile Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Military connected talent encouraged to apply To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: The California Fair Chance Act Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance Massachusetts Candidates Only: It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
